Praia, 12 October (Inforpress) – Denise Elias Resende, the new President of the Cape Verde Institute for Childhood and Adolescents (ICCA), today announced that one of the priorities of the new Directorate will be the institution’s internal reorganization and the development of a strategic plan.

In an exclusive interview with Inforpress, the head, who took office on 1 October, explained that the institution is currently in an institutional diagnostic phase. One of the main changes is the establishment of a board of directors which, according to the board, will ensure a closer, more balanced and more effective management of the various areas of intervention.

Denise Elias Resende stated that one of the requirements is the creation of a legal and human resources department, given the complexity of the cases handled by the Institute and the number of employees, which currently stands at 186, but is insufficient in terms of staffing.

She also stressed the need to improve the quality indicators of the services provided, including the NGOs’ development of ratios between the number of professionals and the number of children in the centres. According to her, this situation can help to prolong the stay of children in institutions.
